What’s on this October half term?
The October break is fast approaching, so you’ll undoubtedly be in need of some ideas to keep the family entertained throughout the week.
Whether you’re looking to get out into the fresh air, take a step back in time or get stuck into some Halloween crafts, take a look at our highlights of what’s on in West Sussex this half term.
We’ve put together a list of some of the best haunting Halloween activities for all the family to enjoy in West Sussex.

Get your wellies on and wander through the family run pumpkin patch near Worthing to pick your own pumpkin! Choose your perfect pumpkin from a selection of over 20 varieties to take home and carve in time for Halloween. There’s lots more to do whilst you are there so check out the fun craft tent and tractor rides and warm up with hot drinks and snacks. Entry is free!
Little historians and grown-ups alike will love the magnificent Arundel Castle. Stuffed full of fascinating stories from 1067 through to the present day, history is brought to life before your eyes. Book tickets for ‘Characters Through History‘ and meet characters from the first two sieges, explore the castle, grounds and gardens and then venture into charming Arundel with its independent shops, cobbled streets, cafes and restaurants.
Spooktacular events at Chichester’s Aldingbourne County Centre
Dare to be scared? Ghosts, zombies, witches and ghouls have descended upon the woodland walk, will you spot them? Visit Chichester’s Aldingbourne County Centre this October and join the team for a Halloween spooktacular event and country walk. Don’t forget to join in on the pumpkin judging and fancy dress competitions too!
Head to the Weald & Downland Living Museum this October half-term and you’ll find all sorts of Halloween and autumn-themed activities, with a twist! Scrap pumpkin carving and take part in an immersive experience of the tastes, smells and tasks of the past! It’s a fun and educational day out with plenty of fresh autumnal air and space to explore. It’s dog-friendly too.
Calling all young ghost hunters! Something supernatural is brewing at Borde Hill Gardens this half term. This Halloween half term come and join the Borde Hill Academy of Witches & Wizards to help Sapphire the Witch’s Cat regain her magical powers on a bewitching story trail full of spells, potions and mystery.
Prepare to be spooked at Tulleys Farm
Tulleys Farm hosts several super spooky activities throughout October. With everything from the World Famous Shocktober Fest (Europe’s largest scream park!) to PYO Pumpkins and Pumpkin Nights events, there is something for everyone.
